Get started on recovering!
I am Karen Jaques and have been running my sports injury and rehabilitation clinic for the past 28 years. I hold qualifications in Medical Acupuncture & Dry Needling for musculoskeletal, I.I.S.T. Sports Injuries, electrotherapy, rehabilitation and Sports massage. I am also a qualified Beauty Therapist, and my clinic also offers Podiatry services.
I specialize in the treatment and rehabilitation of muscular injuries as well as pre and post op surgery to assist you back to full fitness. I offer sports massage, sports injury treatment and fitness programmes, as well as remedial and therapeutic massage combine with muscular skeletal acupuncture.
If you are suffering with back pain, knee pain, hip pain or any injury whether work related or sports related then I can help. The vast majority of treated injuries are receptive to my rehabilitation programmes and provide much needed relief for sufferers
Word of mouth speaks a thousand words, and I do not rely on advertising. My clients are normally those that come recommended through others that have been treated by myself.
I have many happy clients particularly in the sports field who I see on a regular basis for maintenance treatment or to deal with any niggles that arise. This keeps them performing optimally.
As a professional my job is to get you on the road to recovery and ensure you stay there........... I will give honest, friendly advice in all aspects of treatment and will refer further if I feel it is necessary and that the current treatment is not working

Western medical acupuncture is a therapeutic treatment involving the insertion of fine needles into the skin at specific points along what are considered to be lines of energy (meridians) used in the treatment of various physical and mental conditions; it is an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, and the principles of evidence based medicines.
It is mainly used to treat muscular skeletal pain, including myofascial trigger point pain. It is also effective for post operative pain and nausea. It act mainly by stimulating the nervous system (sensory stimulation) with some overlap with transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and spinal cord stimulation.
Acupuncture needling has local effects through local antidromic axon reflexes releasing near peptides such as calcitonin gene related peptide and increasing local nutritive blood flow, which improves for example the function of salivary glands.
In the spinal cord and brain, there is well established evidence that acupuncture causes the release of opiod peptides and serotonin. The clinical effect of musculokskeletal pain are best explained by the inhibition of the nociceptive pathway at the dorsal horn, by activation of the descending inhibitory pathways, and possibly by local or segmental effects on myofascial trigger points.

Sports Massage is a very deep form of tissue massage and can be used both prior and after your sport session. Not only is it for sports people, but it is also a great way to relieve tension caused by desk or driving jobs especially for those suffering from headaches or migraines. Sports massage reduces fatigue and muscle tension along with alleviating swelling and promotes flexibility. When required, it can remodel scar tissue and prevent injuries along with preparing an athlete for optimal performance.
Sports massage is available to all sporting levels and can be known to take seconds and even minutes off peoples PB’s (Personal Best). This can be due to muscular imbalances which accumulate during training which in turn can impede performance and cause discomfort. Hence the benefits of a sports massage can be felt prior, during and even after competition. For those who have desk jobs or drive for a living, sports massage can be a great way to release tension and restore balance to the musculoskeletal system. As a result sports massage is effective for everyone and is a great form of maintenance to prevent aches and pains and makes you feel good!
